Subject: Cigar Box Guitar From: GUEST Date: 03 Mar 12 - 08:53 AM Greetings: Does anyone have plans for a cigar box guitar. I have checked the internet, but no plans, just pictures of a cigar box guitar. I would like to see plans so I know exactly how it is made before I go out and purchase wood, etc. |

Subject: RE: Cigar Box Guitar From: GUEST Date: 04 Mar 12 - 11:28 AM I live in New Port Richey, FL. I did check out "Cigar Box Nation", and read through much of the book telling how to make a cigar box guitar. Page 32 shows how the neck was cut and then glued together in the correct position. Only thing is, the picture is not at all clear to me. I am a "visual" person and need to see exactly how something is done. I am determined to do this. Hopefully, I will accomplish it in my lifetime!!! |

Subject: RE: Cigar Box Guitar From: Mr Red Date: 10 Jul 15 - 02:28 AM I made a Ukulele once. Literally out of a cigar box. I was only 14. The problem was I didn't know where to put the frets so I asked a school chum who was older and played guitar. He tuned it (wooden hand-carved pegs) played it a bit, marked out a few frets then played "Tom Dooley". He handed it back and pointed out I had the strings upside down. That man was Eric Idle. He never mentions the school because they expelled him on his penultimate day of term. So I don't give the place publicity either. Nudge, Nudge, know what I mean? the ratio of fret distances is the twelve root of 2. BTW |
