Downloaded the book on to my desktop - Looks and reads fine - but I don't want to be sat at my computer to read a 1000+ pages. Downloaded it as a .PDF on to my Kindle. Reading it in full page mode, the print was very tiny. Reading it in any other mode meant a lot of scrolling vertically and horizontally to be able to read each page - very unsatisfactory. Downloaded ADOBE READER on to my Samsung Galaxy and then transferred the book as a .pdf to it through a cable from my desktop. Holding it horizontally and slightly enlarging the viewing mode, it makes a very comfortable read with the additional benefit of being able to see the excellent photos in full colour - perfect! It will be the next book that I read. At this stage I need to add my thanks to those of Les and Jim B. to Reg Hall. I know already that I am going to get a great deal out of this book. |

It's not a competition, but there was life outside London even then. Margaret Barry, Michael Gorman, Joe Heaney Dominic Behan and Paddy Tunney and other icons of the music all played folk clubs in NE England in the early sixties- Marsden Inn, the Bridge, Hexham, Birtley, Shotley Bridge, Felling and Sunderland among them. But this has nowt to do with the release of this amount of material from a man who commands great respect with anyone with an ear to read and learn- well done Reg- we owe you a huge debt.. |

In the years that I lived in London I was well aware that the folk scene and the Irish music pub scene were entirely separate though within the same city. Reg was a rarity in being involved in both. I think it is amazing that an important new book is offered free on the internet at the same time as it is newly published - but I don't think that I would like to read 1000+ pages in the flip-page way that it is presented by Topic. Am I right in thinking that it is only available on-line? It will be hell of a task to print all those pages. |

This presumably is the digest of his thesis on Irish music. I can't find any trace of the book on the Internet. Does anyone know if it is still scheduled for publication and, if so, when, and who the publisher is? Thanks in advance. |
