Ok, Eurovision time is upon us again and someone has got to try to write Engelbert a song bad enough to win.

Over the last few years, however, it's all become a bit political with countries making alliances, and the UK generally getting stuffed.

What are the power groupings likely to be this year with the Euro in peril - with the Greeks/Italians and the other weak economies all gang up on France/Germany? - who will cleave together?

Appreciated that this only barely qualifies to get above the line as a 'music' thread.

At the same time as it was reported that this year's victim would be Jerry Dorsey, it was said that whilst, due to the political voting, the UK usually comes towards the bottom of the pile, we would always have a reserved place because the BBC pays a substantial amount towards Eurovision/the song contest.

WHY?
