Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Two of a Kind (John Ims) From: GUEST,old fan of Jon's Date: 05 Mar 13 - 10:54 PM The song is by Jon Ims (sometimes he spells his name with an "h" sometimes not. Here are the lyrics. copyright Rites of Passage Music (BMI) Being on the road without a friend Can you make feel life's loneliness And a voice that rides the wind Stream across the airwaves In a simple country song One that you don't hear until the moon is full and bright Well it's Texas once again One about the good old boy Whose caught remembering images of childhood And the places that he'd been Lost inside his questions wondering where it all would end CHORUS Another midnight on the highway Houston in the distance It seems I'm always leaving love behind Singing along with someone whose soul is on the radio Sounds like me and the good old boy are two of kind Been down in a cheap hotel Keeps you in touch with an emptiness Old pickers know too well Comes on strong when you drop your boots And you sit up on the bed Trying to keep your thoughts from dancing all around your head So you fumble with the dial Till you hear that melody singing sad and sweet There you are again with him somewhere down the line Your feeling just a little bit better When you hear his guitar whine REPEAT CHORUS 2001 Rites Of Passage(BMI) |

Subject: RE: From: GUEST,Kenn Lee Date: 31 May 01 - 11:48 PM John Ims wrote this song- You can find it on Bill and Bonnie Hearnes album (you'll have to search their albums to see which one) I'm search for the lyrics also as I haven't sung this song in a while and I'm having a major brain block on one line. I would like to use it in a show next week. If someone has the first verse I would appreciate it! |
Subject: Two of a Kind or Midnight on the Highway From: Bill (ssssbill@aol.com) Date: 03 May 97 - 12:40 AM Howdy Dave, I seem to hear Bill Staines' voice singing the chorus you've shown. So I'm guessing that he wrote the song. I've checked my Staines song books, and I don't find it there. I'll try to check through the recordings I have, and I'm thinking that I'll find it on one of those. Someone else will probably let you know for sure before I get back with anything more definite. Subject: who wrote this song? From: davidc@mit.edu Date: 02 May 97 - 02:43 PM I'm trying to find out who wrote the song (I think it's) "Two of a Kind." The chorus goes: Another midnight on the highway, Houston in the distance. Seems I'm always leaving love behind. Singing along with someone whose soul is on the radio Seems like me and the good old boy are two of a kind. I searched ASCAP and BMI and there are many songs titled "Two of a Kind" but there are no lyrics listed. Anyone know the answer? Thanks, Dave Carter |
