What a great idea. If you want to do some multi-tracking and need an authentic Cajun triangle as as part of the mix...

About time the teefer was accorded its rightful place in Cajun Culture.
I have produced sheet music for a number of waltz and two-step numbers which is available for purchase. Below is a sample:
Waltz.
Ting-a-ting ting, Ting-a-ting ting.
Ting-a-ting ting, Ting-a-ting ting.
etc.

Two-step.
Ting-a Ting-a, Ting-a Ting-a, Ting-a Ting-a, Ting-a Ting-a,
Ting-a Ting-a, Ting-a Ting-a, Ting-a Ting-a, Ting-a Ting-a,
etc.
I accept cheques or Paypal.

I bet I know people who've bought this!

To be fair, though, it's no dafter than buying a CD about bodhran playing or DADGAD guitar accompaniment. Like any supposedly 'simple' instrumental skill, cajun triangle is easy to do badly and hard to do well. The best player I ever heard was my old colleague in Ti-Fer Cajun Band, Clare Gilliam. Always enjoyed playing with her and it never felt like hard work but there was a fair bit of work involved.

Though I suppose the other possiblility is that the CIA have commissioned this as some sort of interrogation aid. 'Come on, Mustafa. Tell us where the Semtex is or it's another two-step for you!'

For a serious instructional video see here
The two-step can be varied to give real expression when playing, and should inspire or reflect the band/dancers in much the same way as the rhythm guitar or drums.
The triangle, or teefer to give it its proper name, is similar to the bodhran, in as much as any damn fool can pick one up and hit it, but very few can play it well.

Interesting! I have played a triangle, but I never knew about changing the tone the sound by grasping it. Thanks for the link.

You know, it actually is a fairly hypnotic experience, listening to it for an extended period. And hell, there is nothing wrong with supporting Valcour. Great label.
