Subject: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 07 Apr 12 - 02:42 PM Well, back in January, as some of you know, my pub closed. Then, my car died. I didn't complain here because it was my fault for not sliding some oil to her when she needed it (musical reference alert). Yes, I actually killed a corolla through neglect. Then our landlady told us to declutter or be evicted, so we did. But, she's evicting us anyway. We need a place by the end of the month. Single parent, twin teenagers just finishing their junior (3rd) year of high school, and 2 small cats. Just as well I don't believe in curses. Are we having fun yet? |

I do hope you find some speedy solutions to your difficulties, Mrrzy. You are facing major challenges, that is for sure. You're in the southern USA somewhere, aren't you? |

And may it work out better than your wildest dreams. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 07 Apr 12 - 07:46 PM Thanks, I'm kind of looking forward to some of this... but then again, I'm kind of manic right now so I might enjoy anything, sez I, not tempting fate. As long as the boys are OK we'll be fine. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 10 Apr 12 - 01:39 PM Movin day, movin day Pick your (somethings) off the floor (something something) going out the door Cause it's movin day Pack up all your grips and get away If you spent every cent you can live out in a tent It's mooooooovin day. What about taking a very short lease on a small apartment, 6 months, moving now, and using those 6 months to find something better? The car I looked at failed the mechanic's audition. The other one I was looking at got sold while I was looking at the one that flunked. Life goes on, it happens every day So 'preciate what you got before it's taken away Life will hit you when you're unprepared So be grateful and take all that you can while you're there Take that frown off your head You're a long time dead (?) Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Charley Noble Date: 15 Apr 12 - 01:02 PM One would think that Mrrzy could at least make it to an internet cafe, if they still exist. Meanwhile there are always these verses from The Pity the Downtrodden Landlord Songbook to muse over: Chorus: I'm bound for that beautiful city, My Lord has prepared for His own; Where all the redeemed of all ages Sing "glory" around the white throne; Sometimes I grow homesick for heaven, And the glories I there shall behold: What a joy that will be when my Savior I see, In that beautiful city of gold. We'll never pay rent for our mansion, The taxes will never come due; Our garments will never grow threadbare, But always be fadeless and new; We'll never be hungry nor thirsty, Nor languish in poverty there, For all the rich bounties of heaven His sanctified children will share. Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 16 Apr 12 - 09:53 AM Aargh. Thanks, and yes, I am bad at doing anything other than car- and apt-shop when i do get online... So, my month's notice is halfway over, no sign of an apt yet, and I am also still looking for a lawyer as I don't think you can really evict peopple for things that were true when you renewed the lease. On verra. And I am still in a rental car, which I do NOT plan on living in! I spate in me fist and I picked up me stick And up the coach road like a deer I did trip I cared not for bailiff, landlord, or Old Nick And I sang like the lark in the morning... (Not yet true but a lovely verse...) |

Chorus: If I can just get off of this LA Freeway, Without gettin' killed or caught, I'll be down the road in a cloud of smoke To some land I ain't bought, bought, bought! Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 16 Apr 12 - 05:08 PM Looking for a lawyer? Isn't there a not-for-profit housing agency in your region? Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: GUEST Date: 17 Apr 12 - 01:42 PM Yikes is there a way she could give you till June at which point some of the student apartments might be freeing up? Hoping this turns out for the best - it can't be good living in a place where the landlady is hostile. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: fat B****rd Date: 17 Apr 12 - 03:22 PM "Spitting on a fish" Mrrzy. Good analogy for futility from my old friend David Atkins. In the meantimne all the very best of luck to you. Charlie. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: katlaughing Date: 17 Apr 12 - 04:53 PM We, our three kids, six cats, one dog, and two birds lived in a motel room for three months as we waited for the place we were going to rent to become vacant/lease ran out. It was an adventure, but doable. Maybe it would work for you as a stop-gap measure? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 17 Apr 12 - 06:11 PM there is a possible 6-months lease on a small apt available now BUT I have finally actually gotten to talk to a lawyer and she can't evict me just by sending me a letter, she has to take me to court, and until then there is really nothing she can do if I stay here... so I am worrying more now about the car, and will continue to fight the eviction. If we can stay another year, hostile landlord or not, the boys will graduate and I can go live with my mom who will need me by then, is the plan. I am relieved about the court thing - since she has filed no papers, I have more time than I thought. I was under the impression that she could just show up with bailiffs and they would toss all my furniture out into the street... So back to trying to buy a car! I think the analogy I was not thinking of was Herding cats. But spitting on a fish sounds about right too! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: GUEST,999 Date: 17 Apr 12 - 06:18 PM It's better news than you had, Mrrzy. I'm happy for you and your boys. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: mg Date: 17 Apr 12 - 06:29 PM I would consider the six month lease...it is hard to live in a hostile place...and if she is somewhat prosperous she might take the court option..more hassles...but your choice of course...mg |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: ChanteyLass Date: 17 Apr 12 - 10:47 PM Well. A reprieve. Good. I thought at the beginning it sounded like very short notice to evict you, but I don't know much about these laws here, let alone elsewhere. Also, I wondered if she had told you to declutter because she knew she was going to try to get you out and was afraid you would be one of those tenants who left a lot of stuff behind for her to deal with. Whatever paths you choose, I hope you will keep us informed. |
