Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 02 Dec 23 - 03:40 AM a muso friend's wife had health problems recently & had so many blood texts that the technician refused to take more blood. So I sent her some gourmet chocolates, same as I've given to her husband & other muso friends, & she no idea where they came from. I had assumed he'd remember ... Have some (virtual) chocolates - you'll feel better!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 01 Dec 23 - 11:18 AM Yes. It isn't something I want anyone saying to me. Sorry about the lab work repeat. Offer up the other arm next time, if you have the option. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 01 Dec 23 - 09:46 AM The thread title refers to what I first encountered as an old Chinese curse, May you live in interesting times. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Donuel Date: 28 Nov 23 - 07:44 AM Of course, the centrifuge broke. In your good humor what you call interesting times are a very unique combination of incredible challenges. Sometimes I wonder who is the better comedian, you or God. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 28 Nov 23 - 03:41 AM as you said, you are (definitely) living in Interesting Times ... |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: keberoxu Date: 19 Nov 23 - 06:38 PM Good that you have a date. Now you need the patience to count the days till then. Change of subject: your son who is getting married? Hopefully not at the same time you are in hospital? |

It smarts. Good for you for fighting for your son. And I do remember the altercation with his former roommate as well. Continue to hope he gets what he needs most. And great to know that your back / abdomen situation is livable now. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 09 Nov 23 - 04:03 PM I was reminded this week of the trauma to a family when a member has a personality disorder (sociopath, as far as we know) - it isn't treatable with a drug, it's something that might be improved by therapy and practice of social skills, etc. (So a psychologist friend told me recently.) A sibling has those characteristics and while his anti-social behavior (toward the family in particular) was so difficult for all of us for many years, it is peaceful since no one has heard from him in ~15 years. He seems to have a roof over his head and figured out a disability income. Someone asked me if I wanted to revisit the issues in that case - no way. Leave well enough alone. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 09 Nov 23 - 12:58 PM Hi, everybody! Back still great. New thing in neck - myelomalacia, maybe, softening of spinal cord giving me weird leg things, like my knees collapsing when I walk. Have MRIs, will see neuro tomorrow. Did you know you could bruise your kneecap marrow, with your own femur, if you collapse on your hunkers fast enough? Meanwhile older twin is getting married next fall, am in charge of hotels etc. All advice appreciated. Really. FOFU, big time. Mean the other while, younger, bipolar (schizophrenic?) twin has been in jail, then in mental hospital, then back in jail, and was going to be railroaded into pleading guilty to a violent felony, but I raised such a stink that he's going to be evaluated instead for sanity at time of offense, yay, not guilty by reason of insanity plea, I hope! That was today's good news. I tell you, it is *never* boring. He did punch the cop who was arresting him for weird sexual behavior, but only because he (my kid) thought he (himself) was a Cherokee chief, so he (the cop) had no right to arrest him (my kid). That would have been a lot easier had the cop been a woman. We need more pronouns, like he(1) and he(2)... yeah, right. Luvs! |

Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 03 Mar 23 - 09:01 PM A couple of months have passed since there were any reports - how is everything going these days? Is your pain gone, or reduced? The surgery has healed well? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Mrrzy Date: 02 Jan 23 - 11:22 AM I got lots of PT going on... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mrrzy is living in interesting times... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 02 Jan 23 - 11:12 AM I had a couple of weeks away from the gym and doing some of my regular streaming exercises and noticed my back is getting a bit stiff. I'm back to stretching now and it helps a lot. Last year I bought a couple of the DVDs released by Miranda Esmonde-White to try her Essentrics program - it's an elaborate stretching routine with the goal of reducing pain. During the summer I subscribed to her streaming service ($15 if you go through her site then log on over the Amazon Fire Stick; it's $20 a month if you join using the Fire Stick, so don't give the extra to Amazon if you can avoid it!) I feel so much better, and in particular my neck isn't stiff like it used to be. Driving and looking over my shoulder - I feel like I can actually turn farther and see better now. And the lower back feels much better. |
