Subject: Dan Walsh & Will Pound, Leics 17 April From: GUEST,JeremyRS Date: 09 Apr 12 - 04:56 AM On Tuesday 17 April Dan Walsh & Will Pound will be playing at The Musician in Leicester. Hamonica man Will Pound is a key member of Martin Simpson's Big Band, got a nomination for Musician of the Year at the recent Folk Awards and won Musician of the Year in the Fatea Awards. He''s also been seen by many in last year's BBC series Goldie's Band and in his spare time (!) has just started a new duo, Haddo, with his wife Nicky on cello. Not to be outdone Dan Walsh inspires superlatives from anyone who sees him: "a demon picker" (Mike Harding), "the real deal (Uncut) and "the best banjo player I've seen in Britain (Don Wayne Reno, Hayseed Dixie). He has his own band and plays with numerous other musicians as well but it's the duo with Will where he's at his best, where they deliver a high energy fast and furious set. Check out the video here for a taster. Support comes from local hero, the hard gigging Fay Brotherhood. Based in Nottinghamshire she sings a mixture of original and traditional material and her strong voice and stage presence make for a powerful listening experience. Tickets only £9 from the Musician or wegottickets |
