Subject: Muggers dollars From: Bonzo3legs Date: 13 Apr 12 - 04:10 AM During a conversation with a chap in the BA fast bag drop line at Malaga airport, he mentioned that before New York was cleaned up, business men would walk around with $100 in their pocket, so that if attacked they would simply hand a few dollars to the mugger who would then be happy and go away - must be a song there! |
Subject: RE: Muggers dollars From: Maryrrf Date: 13 Apr 12 - 07:52 AM That sounds like an urban legend to me. I worked in New York during the beginning of the 80's before it was "cleaned up" and never heard of this - nor did I ever get mugged. |

Subject: RE: Muggers dollars From: Bonzo3legs Date: 14 Apr 12 - 08:11 AM Yes I forgot to mention the outdated credit card trick! |
Subject: RE: Muggers dollars From: Phil Cooper Date: 14 Apr 12 - 09:20 AM The late comedian, Rodney Dangerfield, had a joke about carrying hold up money when he was in New York. That was back at least to the '70's. |
