Subject: 'Spaw. Wrong person? From: ddw Date: 14 Oct 99 - 07:46 PM Hey, 'Spaw, I was reading threads yesterday and saw your query to dwditty about whether he took I-77 to N.C. Just wondered if you might be responding the a lament I put in a thread a few days ago about missing my fall trip to N.C. and got us confused because of the similarity of nicknames. And, if that's the case, I didn't want you to think I was snubbing you.... Truth is, I much prefer the I-77 route, but usually go I-75 to Knoxville and I-40 across the hill. The latter is 10 hours driving time, so I can make the run in one day and then relax. The I-77 to I-81 is much prettier — expecially the part thru thru W. Va. — but it takes quite a bit longer and I'm getting too old to be in the saddle much longer than I am. I wouldn't mind breaking it up into a couple of easy days' driving, but I've had thousands of bucks worth of stuff stolen from my cars when I've stopped at motels and I'm not willing to unload and reload to prevent it. That's the main reason I go the shorter route. Howsomever.... It would be great to meet you sometime face to face. I'm thinking about going to a big blues festival in W. Va. next summer, so maybe I could slow down in your neck of the woods on the way down. cheers, david |

In any case, I went down to Boon the end of the summer and like you Ilike the scenery on 77 but it is a bitchin drive thru W.Va. AND by all means PLEASE let me know if you're coming this way WHENEVER.....I'd love to get together. Spaw |
Subject: RE: 'Spaw. Wrong person? From: Banjer Date: 14 Oct 99 - 08:42 PM Well, 'Spaw and ddw, it seems since ddw don't like to stop ya'll can arrange it ahead of time for ddw to drive by and honk while 'Spaw can wave from the curb.......OR.....'Spaw can blow up Cleigh's anterior whilst ddw waves going by...He'd about have to, wouldn't wanna be seen slowin' down for somebody blowin' up a possum's butt...folks might talk, dontcha know! |
Subject: RE: 'Spaw. Wrong person? From: ddw Date: 14 Oct 99 - 11:13 PM Now Banjer, you know that was just a figure of speech — just slowin' down, a' all. I'm the kinda guy who'd stop fer sure if I saw somebody blowin' up a possum's backside. I never tried it, but, hey, you never know.... Now if the guy was playin' a banjo, well that might be another story.... |
Subject: RE: 'Spaw. Wrong person? From: ddw Date: 14 Oct 99 - 11:50 PM Sorry, 'Spaw. In that post to straighten ol' banjer out I meant to go on and thank you for the invitation, but somebody handed me WORK to do. It's always getting in the way of the important stuff. Anyway, thank you. I'd be delighted. Maybe we could toss back a couple and swap a little picking. I'm always looking for people to learn new things from, but they're pretty few and far between in this area. Most people who claim to like folk music around here think Dylan invented it and Two-tune Lightfoot perfected it (if it doesn't sound like ol' Gordy, it must be you're not playing it right). BTW — have you ever been to that blues festival in W. Va.? I know one guy who goes every year, but I haven't been able to make it yet. I'd love to get into some of the workshops and learn some new chops. Darn, more work. gotta go. cheers david |
