Subject: Songs inspired by Laurie Lee From: GUEST,Alyne Date: 18 Apr 12 - 03:33 AM Hi there - wonder if you can help? I've been reading Cider With Rosie by Laurie Lee and I find it hard to believe that no contemporary songwriters will have written anything inspired by the stories in it. Can anyone point me in the direction of any? Many thanks |

Subject: RE: Songs inspired by Laurie Lee From: GUEST,Ray Date: 18 Apr 12 - 05:08 AM Your memory is correct - I have the original vinyl version from 1988. Incidentally, I don't think that Paul Burgess (credited musician) is "the" Paul Burgess. On the sleeve notes he is said to play 'Recorders" and not drums. |

The Paul Burgess mentioned is Paul Burgess of the Old Swan Band and one of the very best english fiddle players and all round musicians. The album features Johnnys settings of Lauries work and features actor David Goodland as well as some contributions from myself. For me its one of the great 'lost' albums into which a huge amount of time effort and work went. Check it out. |
