Well hello, "that" Andrea with the engraved flask attesting to 90-proof vocal powers! Nice to bump into you here at Mudcat.

Thanks again to all for the warm welcome! I've been working at the home CD factory (each one individually mass produced), and "When Carissa Came Ashore" will be out tomorrow. The stern section of the New Carissa is still in the sand at Coos Bay, Oregon, being towed by the Salvage Chief. Another tug is standing by to assist. They have been working on that baby for something like 255 days now!

Jonathan, you'll waste more time than you intended here, meet a crazy, compassionate and erudite crowd and a few merely deranged characters, for whom the Neil Young Center for the Terminally Screwed keeps a special Mudcat Ward.
In fact as the old saying goes, everyone here is strange except thee and me and I'm sure thee's a bit strange at times. In which case you'll fit right in.
Must go, time for my medication!

Well, I'm glad to see you showed up! I see, Jonathan, that you are hesitant to be crassly commercial, so I'll do it for you! If you all want to check out Shanghaied on the Willamette you can go to hell! (Isn't that a funny link? I've been wanting to do that for some time now!) Or to check out the New Carissa song go crazy! Like my linkage? I can hear Jonathan now, "Uh, Margo, uh, don't do me any favors, ok?" Too late!

WOW! What a greeting! Thanks for the big welcome -- I just read through all 19 pages of this thread. I have been dropping in to the Mudcat site to plunder lyrics for years now, but never explored the site any further. You can blame my being here on Margarita!

I see from some of the names I recognize and some I think I recognize that I am in good company here in the Mudcat Forum.

As Margarita said, I was in the studio yesterday mixing and mastering a CD-single of "When Carissa Came Ashore," my song about the wreck & savage of the New Carissa. Today our dining room will become a small factory as I hand-make a bunch of copies!

Yes, it is true, I am half of the nautical band "Shanghaied on the Willamette," of Portland, Oregon. Since our tagline is "Songs plundered from land and sea," you can see why I am a frequent visitor to the Digital Traditions lyrics database!

Thanks again for the great welcome!

Jonathan

I'm in trouble now! I saw Jonathan last night at the Bill Staines concert in Portland. I had forgotten he was going to spend time in the studio mixing "When Carissa Came Ashore". He said they spent 5 hours mixing the song. Gads! Anyway, he went directly from the studio to the concert (no dinner) and we left at about 11:00 pm....He's probably sleeping in like a sane person. But I'll tell you guys, I sent him a personal message urging him to make a post because I don't want you all accusing me of making him up! I'm sure he'll be on this morning..... Margo

Harpy! You got him good this time!

Hey, 'Spaw, if you got it bronzed, there'd never be a need for viagra!

ErictheV: Welcome, glad to have you as a new bonafide member, too! And, kendall, I think you've had the baptism by fire, haven't ya? If not, next time you stop in at the Tavern, see Big Mick and the rest of us. We'll be happy to oblige!

Oh, we're a merry bunch of catters
A merry band of raconteurs
Oh, we're a merry bunch of catters
A'tossing out our lures!

Oh, we're a merry bunch of catters
A roving band of singers
Oh, we're a merry bunch of catters
Now, don't you mind the zingers!

Oh, we're a merry bunch of catters
Trolling lyric waters
Oh, we're a merry bunch of catters
None you'll find are smarter!

Ah, Peter, no need to wonder about gender with your name, eh? Now, your comparison of kat/katlaughing to Victor/Victoria is certainly misguided in that the female gender is implicitly implied in the former, while the latter is most assuredly, in fact obviously, a split gender to which you refer. Split personality? Mayhap, but really just a liking of an old moniker, shortened by those who are either keyboard challenged, energy challenged, or whit-challenged; adopting the shorter and not wanting to release the old with its action verb, which really after all, does say it all! Of course, I've found another which resonates to my inner core of values, spiritual link to the other realms, and which the faeries out back at the Kat&Spaw litter box really like, too, so....the choices are so many!

For now, I remain your proudly defiant,
Kat/Katlaughing!**BG**

I am thinking of having the old one bronzed, but I hadn't thought of the auction. The real situation is that size becomes a real problem. I was walking across a river about 40 feet up on a railroad bridge the other day and had to relieve myself. Even though it was a very high bridge, it was damn cold water. And to tell the truth, I really didn't mind the temperature as much as I did the depth of the river (only about 30 feet) which would have been OK except for the 6 foot of mud on the bottom. Girth of course is a problem too. The other day I fell asleep in the woods and in the midst of a very pleasant dream, was awakened to the sound of a chainsaw starting up. So I'm going for something in the 15 or 20 inch range.

Oh yeah.........Joe Offer would be happy to stop and say hello but he gets embarassed to be seen with many of the yahoos on this thread, so I'll say hello for him. "Hello" ... Its really Rick's job, but he's a little down with the flu.

And rest assured this place is not about chickens...Its about POSSUMS.....Where is your mind El Swanno?---Cleigh is very upset!!!

Spaw

Geez, I wish I had a new member...............oh well...

Welcome to Mudcat Jonathan! A great place full of song and story and assorted characters (like Margo) who tend to foul up the site for those serious minded people like myself. Actually, I fear that the fact you have come here even knowing Margarita does not bode well for any worthwhile contributions you might make. Frankly, its people like Margo who are so lacking in talent and compassion that make this such a boring place for the rest of us. Again, her recommendation does not put you in good stead here. Why don't you just leave now?

But if you decide to stay, you'll find an intelligent, caring, loving, and knowledgable group of folks as anxious to learn as they are to help.......except Margo of course. So jump in wherever you choose and post as often as you like. You have a chance here to prove yourself and overcome your association with someone who ranks as a true pain in the ass around here. Don't blow it........
