Subject: Tech: A website problem From: frogprince Date: 22 Apr 12 - 05:06 PM I've had a website, frayedtrain.com., for a few years now. It includes a few songs, with midis of the tune. Since I got this computer with Seven, I can't access the midis. Right clicking the links brings up the properties of the files, but they're labeled "not available". Can other folks out there get the music? (button at the bottom of the page). Can any of you brilliant fellers give me a clue as to what's up? |

Subject: RE: Tech: A website problem From: JohnInKansas Date: 22 Apr 12 - 06:25 PM Works fine on my Win7, so the link is probably ok. The midi opens in Windows Media player on mine, so perhaps you've not got it set to play .mid(?) or you're using something else for your player that needs a tweak. First thing I'd check would be whether a .mid file opens and plays from your own machine, to see if it's a local problem or something with your browser. If local files play okay, a popup blocker would be the next suspect. Default "security" settings in Win7 can be a bit obscure, and some add-on "defenses" can be downright weird. John |

Subject: RE: Tech: A website problem From: frogprince Date: 22 Apr 12 - 07:48 PM Midi files on my own computer open and play with Windows media player, no problem. Apparently this has to be a setting or glich on my own computer. |
Subject: RE: Tech: A website problem From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 22 Apr 12 - 07:58 PM I have Windows XP. Bad news: If I left click, I get a message that says "Not enough memory to perform this operation. Good news: If I right click, it opens right up and plays the song. Are you right-clicking? |

Subject: RE: Tech: A website problem From: frogprince Date: 22 Apr 12 - 11:17 PM Most of the site as is now has been done with Yahoo sitebuilder; done in my computer, then sent to the website. |
Subject: RE: Tech: A website problem From: Jack Campin Date: 23 Apr 12 - 05:43 AM Plays ok on Firefoz 3.6 on MacOS Tiger. I have Firefox set to warn me about cookies. I get two warnings on that site: one is a "BX" cookie provided by the site itself, the other is another "BX" cookie from geocities.com. Geocities is defunct. Maybe your browser hangs expecting a cookie that never turns up? |
