Subject: RE: Jack in the Green, London, UK 1st May From: treewind Date: 28 Apr 12 - 04:19 AM When I worked in the City in the '90s, I used to join the Jack in the Green procession with my melodeon. I thought it had been discontinued because of all the security paranoia - good to see it's still going, though it looks as if it doesn't follow the same route as it used to. Have a good one! |
Subject: Jack in the Green, London, UK 1st May From: severed-head Date: 27 Apr 12 - 06:35 AM Fowler's Troop and the Deptford Jack will be appearing in the City of London on 1st May, 2012. The Jack will be "greened" and decorated at The Wheatsheaf, SE1 1TY and the procession will cross London Bridge shortly after midday, arriving at The Ship, EC3V 0BP by about 12:20. Departs from The Ship about 1:00pm and the procession moves on to The Bell, EC4R 0AN at about 1:10pm. Leaving The Bell at about 1:55pm, it makes it's way (unsteadily now) towards The Centre Page, EC4V 5BH at about 2:05pm. Moving on again at about 2:45 across the Millenium Bridge to The Founders Arms, SE1 9JH at about 3:00pm. At about 3:40 departs for the final destination (for thoses shtill shtanding) The Charles Dickens, SE1 0LH at about 3:55pm. There WILL be great music. There WILL be much drinking. There MAY be spontaneous outbreaks of dancing. All times are, of course, subject to change. If anyone is in the City at these times on Tuesday, please come along and join in the fun. There may be better ways of spending May Day but I can't think of any. Just hope this bloody awful weather improves a bit! Garry |
