I'm not real sure of the copyright here and we're in a bit of a thing on that subject right now, so I'm hesitant to post all the lyrics here, BUT... That is still available on CD!!! Subject: Lyr Add: LOVE WILL ENDURE^^ From: DonMeixner Date: 16 Oct 99 - 01:52 AM Hi Yarn, This is a song I haven't sung in thirty years. Hope my memory is up to the task. I believe there is a missing verse here. Some one else? Maybe that chicken Cat'sPaw will help. When first I came to town, I came in from the country. Not a penny did I have, and not one cent could I offer. But still our love was new, and our troubles they were few, They were few. There is no need to think of me. I'll be happy where I'm going. I've got roots that need a-plantin' and a love that needs a-growin', Where my pride won't have to bend, and my lips can taste wind, Taste the wind. And as for you, your tears will heal all the wounds that have been opened, Just as time will clear the fields of all the flowers that have ripened, And of all these things, you can be sure only love Will endure. Subject: RE: Patrick Skye lyrics From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Oct 99 - 08:06 AM Okay Don...it's the second verse that's missing.....Chicken my ass, just trying to use a little discretion, that's all.........Yeah, I know, "Catspaw use discretion???" Laughter is heard all the way to Oz! Okay yarn....Insert this after after "They were few"
"Many times I tried to tell you all the hurt that I was feelin' This one always has been a staple of mine. Like "Nectar of God" it was one of his best. Pat is now living in North Carolina and writing, researching, and building Uillean Pipes. Order the CD yarn....you'll love it. And by going through the Help Mudcat icon to CDNow, you can help support the 'Cat! Spaw |

Subject: RE: Patrick Skye lyrics From: GUEST,dlprocto@aol.com Date: 05 May 04 - 03:22 PM Just wondering if anyone is familiar with Patrick Skye's album "Songs That Made America Famous" ? Released I think around 1971-1972? Any help suggestions hints etc etc appreciated. Thanks Donna |
Subject: RE: Patrick Skye lyrics From: Mark Ross Date: 05 May 04 - 04:19 PM It was subtitled SOMETHING TO OFFEND EVERYBODY Donna, and it sure did piss a lot of people off. Some evenings when I'm sure of the folks around me, I'll even sing one or two of these ditties, but in the past singing them in the wrong place almost got me killed a time or two. It was on Adelphi Records, they were the only company whose legal department didn't their foot down at the idea of releasing the album. I seem to rember Pat telling me that it took him 2 years to find someone to release it. Mark Ross |
Subject: RE: Patrick Skye lyrics From: Amos Date: 05 May 04 - 04:27 PM Here's a page with the CD listing and humorous warnings on it. 1. Fight for Liberation 2. Radcliffe Highway 3. Vatican Caskets 4. Child Molesting Blues 5. Okie 6. Under All Flags 7. Luang Prabang 8. Our Baby Died 9. Ramblin' Hunchback 10. Bake Dat Chicken Pie 11. Rock Star 12. The Pope 13. Yonkers Girl 14. H. Bromovitz Rolling Stone: 'Sometimes a record comes along that so affronts common decency, so offends public morality, and so insults established canons of taste that its very appearance understandably prompts cries of outrage, shock and indignation,' said writer Jim Miller. 'Veteran folk minstrel Patrick Sky's latest opus is just such a record. ...Such a record belongs in every American home; enjoy it while you still can." Billboard: 'This is not an album that can be universally recommended to everyone, especially one's maiden aunt in Dubuque.... Not for everybody, including impressionable children, and definitely rated 'X', the album is nevertheless a must for Pat Sky fans...and miscellaneous weirdos. Sing Out!: This is a truly revolting record...and a disgrace to the nation. Don't miss it. Pat Sky makes fun of (in order) communists, feminists, undertakers, blues singers, rednecks, militarists, babies, deformities, ethnic minorities, Bob Dylan, rock stars, the Pope and murder ballads. (Bob Norman) The Village Voice advised readers that, if the LP was difficult to locate in stores, it could be heard at the Elgin Cinema, 'where Bennett has arranged to have it played between showings of Pink Flamingos.' |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Love Will Endure (Patrick Sky) From: Guldhamstern Date: 29 Jun 08 - 08:35 PM I could and would say i am a fan of Pat Sky. I fell for Many a mile on the Singer Songwriter Project- album. On wich i found Bruce Murdoch. And i found it interesting that of the four who was on the record, the two best (my opinion) left the music buisniss quite early. But all fair that ends well. I like his more beautiful sides more than the more satirical, i don't feel it pleasing listen to Songs that Made America Famous. Love will Endure is certanly one of his most beautiful songs and one of my favourites. As a young(20) Swedish boy/man I can't help to think that i'm born in the wrong time. But i am glad that all the music remains and will survive for a long time, for even younger people in the future. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Love Will Endure (Patrick Sky) From: GUEST,DonMeixner Date: 29 Jun 08 - 10:26 PM Hello Guldhamstern, Welcome to the Mudcat. I haven't seen you here before. Catspaw and I are long time fans of Pat Sky. I think we first heard of Pat Sky the same way you did. On The Singer Songwriter Album. I appreciate all of Pat's songs but I admit I like those early tunes the best. Don |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Love Will Endure (Patrick Sky) From: KenM Date: 29 Jun 08 - 11:16 PM Well the bad news is that the other two people on the SSP album: David Cohen (Blue) and Richard Farina are no longer with us. The good news is that Bruce Murdoch is performing and recording again. Also, Patrick Sky appeared last year in a number of concerts with Eric Andersen. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Love Will Endure (Patrick Sky) From: Guldhamstern Date: 30 Jun 08 - 08:24 AM KenM// Oh, didn't thought of that when i wrote about Bruce and Pat left the buisness to early. Hope it didn't sounded harsh with the "all fair thats ends well". So did Pat performed the guitar folk things or the pipes? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Love Will Endure (Patrick Sky) From: Beer Date: 30 Jun 08 - 08:30 AM I had heard a small sample of what is coming on Bruce's new c/d late one night when he gave a call and asked "What you think Adrien"? Imagen, Bruce asking for my opinion. I was humbled to say the least. Anyway, the song he had just finished writing blew me away. Beer (adrien) |
