Help! Discussions are just starting about a possible festival weekend in Skipton on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend 2013, with the UK Autoharp Association, for which I am the Events Organiser, taking the lead and providing workshops, school visits, pub singarounds and an evening Autoharp concert. This is all very tentative at present but we would really like it to take off. Trouble is we are all mostly Southerners! I live in Lincoln and apart from a Scottish contingent, and a guy in York, I represent just about the most Northern boundary of the Uk Autoharp population. Would really appreciate some folkies in Skipton and area to get in touch with me and discuss some pros and cons, dos and donts, and possible wider folk involvement. Bob@bobebdon.co.uk would be easiest?

Perhaps contacting Skipton Folk Club direct would be more fruitful.

If you Google Skipton Folk Club, they've got a website with contact details on it.
I did this a few weeks ago when I was on holiday in the area and wanted to visit. They're really helpful.

Another (possibly intersecting) contact to talk to would be the good people of the Flag Crackers Border Morris of Craven, http://www.flagcrackers.co.uk/, who may be able to help with various contacts & thoughts about Skipton.

Bacca Pipes FC is just down the road at Keighley. http://www.baccapipes.org.uk/
Their FC night is Friday, Skipton is Monday.

You can email Skipton Folk Club via the website - http://www.skiptonfolkclub.co.uk/contact.php

Better still, why don't you take a trip to Skipton one Monday, do a floor spot, outline what you're looking for and see if there's any interest from the members? The club is doing very well these days and we've had some particularly busy singers' nights. I know it's a bit of a trek from Lincoln, so it's probably best if you drop us an email first to sort out a spot. Guest nights could be problematical but singers' nights should be OK.

Thanks Paul. I have used the contact form on the site, no reply as yet, but no urgency. As you say, it is a bit of a trek for me, but nearer the time, if things work out as I hope, I will certainly be glad to do as you suggest.
