Subject: RE: Absalom #1 in John Peel Archive From: GUEST,Clive Pownceby Date: 01 May 12 - 09:02 AM I saw him the once - in Scarborough (famous Penthouse Club) in 1969. I think the term 'stoner music' could well have been invented for him! Great stuff. 'Save The Last Gherkin For Me' = a great album title. He's now a well-respected artist living in Ireland, and had an exhibition in Liverpool a year or two back. |

Subject: RE: Absalom #1 in John Peel Archive From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker Date: 17 May 12 - 12:05 PM First experienced Mike Absalom in a pub in Robin Hood's Bay in approx late summer 1978 when a mate borrowed his Dad's car and we took 2 girls we fancied off up north on a dirty camping weekend. Brilliant few days.. We went up there as quite inexperienced teenagers and came back home as 'men'.. thanks girls wherever you may be now...??? and thanks also to whoever lent us the tent... Saw Mike Absalom's show, including the "Punch 'n' Judy" routine a few more times over the next 2 or 3 years in pubs around Leeds Uni. |
