Subject: Upton (UK) Folk Fest 2012 UPDATE From: My guru always said Date: 02 May 12 - 07:48 AM I'm certain that all of us who are planning to go to Upton-on-Severn Festival this weekend have been watching the weather (and news) with great interest. You've probably all been checking the Upton Folk Festival Website aswell, but just in case you haven't, here's the latest update: Upton Festival is ON Thanks to the generosity of a local farmer we have the offer of an alternative field as the sports ground in Upton is likely to be un-usable. This is about a mile out of Upton and we will be organising a complimentary bus service over the weekend. Watch the web site for further details. Please click here for new Camping Information |
Subject: RE: Upton (UK) Folk Fest 2012 UPDATE From: G-Force Date: 02 May 12 - 08:41 AM Anyone know what is the state of the alternative field? Also, how frequently the buses will run? It's rotten luck for the festival and we will go if at all possible. I also think it's been very responsible of the organisers to recognise the problems and keep us all updated. They deserve all the support they can get. |

Subject: RE: Upton (UK) Folk Fest 2012 UPDATE From: Mr Red Date: 02 May 12 - 09:40 AM e-mail from Colin Ablitt (Chief Steward) The emergency campsite is at the junction of the A38 and A4004. The entrance is on the right about 15 yards in the direction of Pershore. On turning into the farm you will see a barn. Go to the left of the barn and the field entrance is on your left. If you arrive before the site is laid out please bear in mind that we need to get a lot of campers on there. Please see the map once it arrives on the web site. It is about 1 mile from Upton. Drinking water is available on site and our usual portable toilets but, unfortunately no showers – the showers at the Sports Club will be available as usual. Space is restricted so please pitch where directed. There will be a shuttle bus into Upton each day from Friday evening until Monday afternoon. This is for festival campers only – wrist bands must be worn. The last bus will be at midnight. |

We did our final set yesterday aand I have to say it has become one of my favourite festivals. An idyllic setting and great acts. Cloudstreet were awesome and there was a moment in the church when Briony Griffiths played impromptu piano which was one if the best moments in a concert..ever! Thanks for having us Upron.hope the man in the muggery has forgiven me for calling the horns on his diddy dan..nipples! |
Subject: RE: Upton (UK) Folk Fest 2012 UPDATE From: My guru always said Date: 10 May 12 - 03:21 PM You're so right Linda, it was another excellent Upton weekend despite the weather. The organisers did an excellent job in obtaining alternate camping and the show went on. Well done to the Committee and everyone who worked so hard to make Upton a success this year! |
