Roy Book Binder will be playing London on Sunday 1 July at the Slaughtered Lamb pub.

I believe this will be his sole UK date on a very short visit.

Tickets available from wegottickets. £10 or £12 on the door.

A link to the venue:

The 'Lamb's a good venue for intimate gigs, as anyone who's been to any Pull Up the Roots nights there can testify.

Roy's website, for anyone who wants to remind themselves what a genial master of country blues fingerpicking the man is:

Country?
I don't know. But Blues, yes. And he is brilliant. Do not miss a chance to see him perform.
Try to find a copy of the documentary he did a few years back about his life on the road. And tell him there is always a hot meal and a bed for him in Maine.
SINS

Same here in Colorado, MariGold! I got to see him live when he had just released his first cassette tape. Been in love with him and his music ever since. Don't miss this one, folks!!

Here is just one of the videos he has online: I'm Going Home.

I meant it as in "country blues", a description I've often seen applied to fingerpickers like Elizabeth Cotten and Mississippi John Hurt. Not to suggest Roy plays Country music, which he obviously doesn't.

Yeah, should be a good gig. The venue is up to 150 capacity, but it's quite candles 'n' leather sofas too - manages to be quite intimate and listener-friendly despite being able to accommodate a lot of people. I'm looking forward to it.

Shame it's a Sunday, but them's the breaks!

My post disappeared.
No criticism here, Matt. I thought maybe he did "country" sometimes. I have seen him do the blues...very well.
Enjoy!

I'm reviving this thread because the gig is this Sunday.

He don't come to Europe too often. Come along!

Here's an enjoyable (2-part) lengthy radio interview:

http://www.prx.org/pieces/69812-in-search-of-a-song-roy-book-binder-part-1

in which Roy talks about the NYC folk scene in the 60s, Dave Van Ronk, playing the guitar, learning with Rev Gary Davis, working in a South Bronx orphanage. And plays some great songs.
