Subject: RE: Tech: Explorer not recognizing html5 audio From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 May 12 - 08:25 PM The site shows as what I'd expect is "incomplete" and doesn't give me any response. (Win7 & IE9) That's from a "quick look." The page doesn't appear to load completely for me. HTML5 is NOT A PUBLISHED STANDARD. It was released "for review" a couple of years ago, but quite a lot of the stuff circulated about it does have problems with compatibility between browsers. A second "review release" was published, with limited distribution, almost a year ago, but predictions are that it will be another 2 or 3 years before it can be "adopted as a real standard." That's probably not particularly helpful for you, but the additional difficulty of deciding what might eventually be standard among all the "suggested howtodoits" that are in circulation may pose some problems getting a clean page up with it. It might be noted that Microsoft has decided that sound is so "unimportant to most users" that when Win8 is actually realeased even the "Windows Media Player" will be an extra cost option available only in the top $$$ versions (for additional $$$) due to the expense of the "royalty fees" for all the codecs it needs. If the advance notices remain correct, you won't even be able to add it on the lowest tier version of Win8 without a version upgrade, plus separate purchase of the add-on. John |
Subject: Tech: Explorer not recognizing html5 audio From: Bert Date: 12 May 12 - 07:22 PM I have just upgraded my website with html5 audio. Unfortunately Internet Explorer doesn't want to show the controls. Any idea why? here Firefox and Google Chrome work just fine. |
