Has anyone all the words for Con Greaney's song "The Turf Machine"? I'd be eternally grateful. The first verse ends something like:

".....
We have tires that will grip and no longer will slip
As they climb up the mountain side
But the best thing of all
At our beck and call
Right here upon the scene
For to cut us our peat
Our hearths for to heat
We've a charming new turf machine"

I have a booklet of Con's songs compiled by Gabriel Fitzmaurice - but this one is not included, I'm afraid.

Where are you living? This local Athea page mentions that the Irish TV programme Come West Along the Road showed an old video of Con singing this one a while back. It may still be available online. Failing that, the Irish Traditional Music Archive in Dublin will have a copy.

I think I saw the repeat, in fact... As the camera backed away from him, Con was already groping for his cap underneath the studio seat!

Sorry not much of a hand at this. But if you search youtube for...

Come West Along The Road - S14E02

...you'll pick up the right programme. Con sings three songs in it and Antoin McGabhan plays a nice setting of the Battering Ram.

Some rare stuff on this one too:

I came across a video of Con Fitzgerald singing this song. While I still have trouble making out all the lyrics, I find him easier to understand than the Con Greaney recording I listened to on ITMA, and someone else might be able to transcribe the lyrics from this video:
