Subject: RE: Urgently need recording of Johny Seoighe From: mg Date: 15 May 12 - 04:06 PM Just wanted to say that there is a chance that several will come in so please don't have your feelings hurt if you go to the trouble and then we already had someone else..but especially if you have pre-recorded this already that would be great. mg |
Subject: RE: Urgently need recording of Johny Seoighe From: mg Date: 15 May 12 - 03:59 PM I know and I am concerned that the song might be insulting to the Seoighe family...I also read in an old book it was Johnny Sughrue and that family might ultimately be my relatives. Is that what you meant? However, since apparently a famine victim wrote it, it seems the least we can do is include it and apologies to the other family, who certainly were also affected. mg |

Subject: Urgently need recording of Johny Seoighe From: GUEST,mg Date: 15 May 12 - 03:01 PM Famine CD is almost done and we thought we had a recording but we will not have it after all. I can not bear to put this out without him on it as the person who wrote it..Tomas (I will have to get his full name later) I believe wrote it in the famine as he was trying to persuade Johnny Seoighe to let him into the workhouse. Tomas and his family died. It would be awful to not have this song on this CD. It is almost too late, but if someone who is an Irish speaker and of Irish descent (because this is for our ancestors) and I think let's say male...has access to a digital recorder and a quiet place and knows what buttons to push, please try to get me a recording immediately...probably can't do big files like WAV although Iwill give you address of sound engineer who can upload. My email is mgarvey@wsu.edu but only for this. mg |
