We were both starting new threads at the same time. Yes I'll be there and my (not very folkie) daughter and son-in-law will be bringing our grandchildren to the family ceilidh. With Granny calling and Grandma leading the band how could they miss it?

Lots of good things. French dancing and tunes on Saturday. One of my favourite fiddlers , ceilidhs, sessions.

Another favourite fiddler
will be teaching us some tunes on Sunday morning (do you think she will believe that my bellows and keyboard is an unusual fiddle?)

Ildanach are playing on the 3rd (I think). Looking forward to it.

Hello

Does anyone know if there are any sessions or singarounds in the village during the festival? If so where and when?

We (Ildanach, that is) will be hosting a session on Sunday lunchtime. Don't have details handy at present but they should be available from the website. If I come across them I'll put them up.

There are 3 pubs in Kelsall + the beer tent. Official sessions will be on the programme, unofficial will spring up all over the place, there were 2 last night (not so good as we were sat halfway between then!)
All the rest of the programme info + the free workshops + displays are on the website.
I can't see any mention of sessions. When the office is open and someone buys a programme....

There is also a farm shop up the hill that has a licence for music and drinking this weekend, so musicians are welcome there (transport is provided).
The official sessions are
Today 12.15 - 2.15 at the Lord Binning (upstairs) host Ildanach
Monday Singaround Lord Binning (upstairs) 1.15 - 3.25 Nine tenths Below
Music session Farmers Arms 12.30 -2.30 Fiddlestone
Anglo-European session Lord Binning (upstairs) 4.15-6.15 Time Bandits

There seem to be more workshops in the programme than I notice on the website. Someone else can type those in.

Whatever has happened to the weather?

Had a fine & lively sesh in the Royal Oak last night, still going when I left around 230am!

Landlord brought out big jugs of ale for everyone - super - who cares about the weather when there's such larks !!!

Obviously a change of management from 1982!!!

The woman wasn't the most charming host when I stayed there back then.
Actually, she was OK with me in the end and actually gave me a back door key via the fire escape so that I could get in after the late night sessions(I had to show her proof these were part of the official programme!.

However, I was warned "Don't tell the American couple."
:-)

Yes, a change of management. And a change of heart from last year. All the pubs in Kelsall have been closed several times in the past couple of years.

I came down from Manchester on Sat and Sun and , despite weather, had a couple of good days and met some nice people. The landlords in both the Lord Binning and the Royal Oak were very welcoming. Sat in on a great session with Ilanach, Sunday dinnertime and did one of my songs '1847', which seemed to go down well. I'll be back next year and, defying the weather will bring the tent

Sunday was a wet & cold day, however the Fest was great. The Landlords of the various pubs and the fruit farm seemed to be pulling together for a change. Hope the building problems get sorted for next year!!
