Subject: Tech: A happy little discovery From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 25 May 12 - 10:17 PM A nice little discovery on my p[art today, alothough I may be teaching 99% how to suck eggs, athe other 1% may find this useful. I just found out that I could plug my vinyl turntable into my digital Tv and play records through the video setting. I am indeed a happy bunny tonight |

Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 26 May 12 - 04:43 AM Ok this is going to get really techniocal now!!! (for me that is) Firstly in background, my turntable is part of a music centre system on which the amplifier finally died. The turntable has a split cable which ends up to two co-axial plugs (red and white), My TV also has 2 co-axialo sockets (also red and white). Then using the remote, selectring video as the source allows me to play the records. |

Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: GUEST,Johnmc Date: 26 May 12 - 07:12 AM Sorry, meant phono plugs. |
Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: treewind Date: 26 May 12 - 08:50 AM UK phono plug = US RCA plug. |
Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 26 May 12 - 09:01 AM probably I said it was very tech for me - jack plug on the inside, and a metal tube on te outside |
Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 26 May 12 - 10:43 AM Thanks for the info. I guess the sound system of your digital TV is taking over for the defunct amplifier. It's good to know that your 78's can still be enjoyed. |
Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 26 May 12 - 10:56 AM Its my 33s, I don't have a 78 turntable. th eonly problem is that the TV doesn't know there is a source so after 20 minutes the powersaver cuts in (out). |
Subject: RE: Tech: A happy little discovery From: Stilly River Sage Date: 26 May 12 - 11:50 AM RCA plugs. Your TV is probably programmable to stay on longer than 20 minutes - set it so it won't turn off or after X number of hours. SRS |
