I think that it's got too many old tapes... Maybe I need to investigate some other foot pedals with a delay off the snare or vice-versa... Even when I was doing OMB performances there were some where I found myself having to think... I hate thinking... Thinking sucks... I just need more time to get everyone on the same page... Either that or stay the heck off the snare (or high-hat) except for occasional emphasis... B~ |

Leave your left foot alone and see what it does. I suspect the logic center of your left brain is trying to control it (it tries to control everything), but if you left your left foot alone, your lizard brain (in charge of music and hearing) will start communicating with it, and something good might come of it. That's basically how my left hand operates when I improvise on piano, and it works pretty well. |

Generous man, that. Lawd that's a pfisticated drum rig you've got goin there, Bobert! One man band indeed! That sounds near as complex as my favorite jug band's jingle stick - that's got about two dozen components - but then all Gnarly plays at one time is the stick. I barely can navigate ONE instrument well, let alone a bunch of them. You've got my sincere respect. Joanne |

I have performed with mine where it isn't convenient or possible to use the drums... The drums, however, present a much larger sound 'cause I get a bass drum, snare and high hat... I can also use my metal slide to strike the upper cymbal of the high hat or the tamborine that sits on top of the high hat and mounted to the high hat rod... The snare is mounted on plastic milk crate on it's side with bungy chords holding it down and a foot pedal mounted to the crate... Very tight in there because the high hat foot pedal is jammed up against the foot pedal for the snare... I liked yer guy, Steev Inglish... Does he play harmonica and geeter or was that with another harmonica player??? B~ |

Darn frustrating when your will to practice is overrueled by being sensible about limitiations. We've got a great dynamo of a blues guy here'bouts, Steev Inglish, formerly known as Mr. Downchild, who has a set up he uses for rhythm section: a sturdy wood box, like a very low table, with openings on the end. A microphone is put UNDER/Inside it, and he uses one foot to beat out a drum track. It's a very elegant solution compared to some of the foot-run drum things that the jug band guys use. Seein' as my left hand has sufficiently recovered from surgery enough to play slide geetar coupled with a phone call I received about playing @ the Sedalia "Blues Challenge" July 14th it was time to... ...assemble my hodgepodge of percussion instruments, PA, cords, amp and assemble it all - where else - but in the middle of my garage... It's been well over a year since I last played drums with me feet while singing and playing on my geetar... Just came in from my 1st one hour practice... I was expecting no better than a 5 but I'd give it a full 7... The left foot has gotten a tad, ahhhhhhh, dumb having the remember snare/high hat reps but is 100% if just one or the other is used... That always was the most difficult for me... So, I'll take the 7 and be happy with it... B;~) |
