Subject: Slow Session in Swindon Wilts UK From: GUEST,Swindon/Enfield Pete Date: 04 Jun 12 - 06:17 AM Is there anyone interested in a slow music session that can be held in a pub in Old Town Swindon? The landlady is OK to hold a session one evening Monday-Thursday evenings in the large bar area at the back of the pub. If anyone wants to give it a go - let me know and I can arrange the evening. The opportunity is there to make it a regular event (weekly or whatever). Cheers -Pete |

Subject: RE: Slow Session in Swindon Wilts UK From: Les in Chorlton Date: 07 Jun 12 - 05:50 AM Do it, do it. We started 3 + years ago with 20 tunes played dead slow - all great fun, dots on the table for those who can read, dots and ABCexplorer shared via e-mail. We have had around 50 people through and generally get 20 everyother Wednesday. We turn out a Ceilidh band of 20 + and play acoustically. If you need any dots pm me with e-mail address and I will send dats. Best wishes L in C# pp The Beech Band Here |

Subject: RE: Slow Session in Swindon Wilts UK From: GUEST,Pete Date: 11 Jun 12 - 09:29 AM Hi All - its starting to look like a starter at least. I'm back in Swindon now and I'll pop in and see the landlady early this week. If all is ok - how does a first night on 26th or 28th June 2012 sound? Also I have already set up a kind of'Yorkshire Christmas Carols' sessions to be held in the same public house on the 1st and 15th December 2012. This has already been put in the pub's diary. Hoping to put on our Mummers play on the same days. So all are welcome - in fact encouraged and urged to attend and participate. Cheers - Pete |

Subject: RE: Slow Session in Swindon Wilts UK From: GUEST,Swindon/Enfield Pete Date: 29 Jun 12 - 04:11 AM Hi All - it's sorted! I have arranged for the first slow session to be held on the 10th July 2012 starting at around 8 o'clock. The venue is the Wheatsheaf Ale House, Newport Street in Old Town Swindon Wiltshire UK. It's a Wadworths public house so good beer. If you are interested just turn up and we'll see how it goes. Also you can email at - swindonsession@gmail.com and let me know what tunes we might like to start off with or any other info etc. This should also be a great opportunity for newcomers, beginners and those who are not so confident to get involved. Hopefully see you all on the 10th July. Cheers - Pete |
Subject: RE: Slow Session in Swindon Wilts UK From: Peter C Date: 29 Jun 12 - 05:20 AM Will it be a regular? monthly, fortnightly, weekly? |
Subject: RE: Slow Session in Swindon Wilts UK From: GUEST,Swindon/Enfield Pete Date: 29 Jun 12 - 06:56 AM Hi Pete C - Maybe an idea to play it by ear at first and see who turns up. Perhaps fortnightly or monthly might be a good idea. There is a very succesful slow session held in Wantage on a Sunday afternoon which suggests that people are perhaps more willing to commit when it is not so regular. |
