Subject: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 05 Jun 12 - 09:11 PM Well, now that many of ya'll have witnessed, thanks to YouTube, that ol' hillbilly can actually play some blues, I was thinkin' of maybe an October northbound tour into Canada so I can meet up with alot of ya'll up there and on the way... Here's kinda what I need: Places to play... Either house concerts, where I can sell CD's and maybe pass the jar around, or joints where I can play for $$$... Places to stay... I've slept on couches... A little food and drink... Here's kinda where I could be: Stop 1: Washington, D.C. Stop 2: New York, Philly, Pa??? Stop 3: Upstate New York, Michigan Stop 4: Canada So, I'm open and if I get enough pieces put together then maybe we can pull this off??? So??? Whaddayathink??? B~ |

Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 06 Jun 12 - 09:30 AM Oh yeah, Canada... Where's brucie, LH and bobad??? Maybe somewhere equidistant??? I don't know Canada, BTW... I been there 2 times in my life... Do you need a passport??? Didn't the last time I went but that was 25 years ago... B~ |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: bobad Date: 06 Jun 12 - 09:40 AM Me, Brucie and Beer are relatively close together - Beer and Brucie are real close and I am an hour and a half away - LH, he's way out in left field somewhere. I don`t know what US citizens need to get into Canada but you do need a passport to get back into the US. |

Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: bobad Date: 07 Jun 12 - 06:12 AM I'm in the middle of nowhere - eastern Ontario in between Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa - the capital city of Canada. No blues or folk clubs around here - the closest would be Ottawa but I'm not up on that scene. Beer's brother, who lives in Ottawa and is a musician, may know about smaller venues that might be a possibility - the only one's I hear from are through advertisements and they are for bigger name acts that are probably booked well in advance. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Beer Date: 07 Jun 12 - 06:34 AM Here are a few places for Blues around my area (Outskirts of Montreal) http://www.sainte-anneblues.com/ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a really good one. http://www.smokemeatpete.com/Band%20Schedule.htm --------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://www.sidedoorcoffeehouse.com/aboutsdch.cfm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Then you have our Coffee House, but I would have to see if the group that is already booked would be willing to give up their spot. The only two Friday evening shows that I may be able to cancel would by the 12th or the 19 of October. If you can figure which week, then I would speak to the musician that is booked to play. ad. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: bobad Date: 07 Jun 12 - 07:14 AM Good suggestion on Smokemeat Pete's Ad, Bobert's music is right up Pete's alley. |

Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 07 Jun 12 - 08:41 PM I didn't get the email C-hugger... The current email is bobnpvine@gmail.com Facebook is beyond my pay grade... I am really limited in my knowledge of files and stuff... B~ |

Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 07 Jun 12 - 09:16 PM Well, yeah... Okay... That does give me some things to think about... I don't have a passport but seems that from here in Charlotte I'll be half way to Canada at the Getaway??? We'll play with it and see if folks step up with empty couches, canned beans and an opportunity to play and make a few bucks for gasoline... B~ |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: bobad Date: 07 Jun 12 - 09:28 PM I have room and board to give you but gigs I'm just not plugged in to set you up with. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: GUEST,999 Date: 07 Jun 12 - 10:06 PM Got a gig for you on a Wednesday night; you gotta name a date. BUT, if you require a passport, get on it now. Oh, yeah, you'll have a house concert, too. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Beer Date: 07 Jun 12 - 10:16 PM I'm not committing to anything until Bobert decides which week he would show up. Once this is done than i will see what i can do. Fair enough Bobert? Ad. |

Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Crowhugger Date: 08 Jun 12 - 12:52 AM I had your current e-mail addy, but just resent the e-mail from the other day. Maybe it got snagged by your spam-catcher if I'm not on your contact list? I'm not a whiz at figuring out that stuff I'm afraid. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 08 Jun 12 - 08:19 AM Thanks, C-Hugz... I printed the two PMs and will go thru all that stuff (with map in hand) tonight after work... Gotta get a passport... When does it start snowing around the areas where brucie, et al, live??? B! |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Beer Date: 08 Jun 12 - 08:38 AM You get more snow than we do. Sometimes in December. Rarely in November anymore. Very difficult to get ice for our Igloo's. I assure you that October will be beautiful for you. There is no better scene than driving up through Vermont, New Hampshire and up state Vermont then into Quebec for the fall colors. Ad. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Beer Date: 08 Jun 12 - 09:19 AM Oops!..... Up State New York. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Crowhugger Date: 08 Jun 12 - 02:04 PM Ditto Beer's comments regarding Toronto area & snow, lately it's even later to arrive here. Different story though in someplace like Goderich where Mudcat's own black walnut hosts Riverview House Concerts. She's in the lee of Lake Huron so there is lake-effect snow starting late October although lately it's hard to predict when it will begin to stay on the ground. Throughout southern and mid-western Ontario early October is either mainly green or a great mix of green & colour, and by the end of Oct leaf-green is all but gone, there is only evergreen & colour left, plus more and more bare branches. Lots of self-guided studio tours in rural/cottage areas on October weekends. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: GUEST,999 Date: 08 Jun 12 - 05:12 PM Some Canadians still call it snow. Ya know why it received that name? |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: gnu Date: 08 Jun 12 - 07:27 PM Do tell, 9. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: iancarterb Date: 08 Jun 12 - 09:41 PM I am guessing this trip is pretty much north-south axis from Charlotte and not westering? There are a few thousand kilometers of Canada 1 to navigate to Vancouver and down to Seattle, but a worthy venture if you've gone to the hassle of getting the passport, and yes, you will need it, both directions. Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 08 Jun 12 - 10:25 PM If I had the money and time I'd love to do a west coast trip, see my son in Portland, but I don't have those luxuries... Sniff... B~ |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Crowhugger Date: 08 Jun 12 - 11:20 PM We still call what 'snow'? |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: GUEST,999 Date: 09 Jun 12 - 06:47 AM Oh, yeah. The reason we call it snow is because the word sh#t was already taken. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Beer Date: 09 Jun 12 - 07:36 AM hahahha!!! Good one. ad. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Crowhugger Date: 10 Jun 12 - 10:22 PM Bobert, how long are you figuring the whole tour to be? Have you narrowed down the dates, or what dates are ideal, what ones totally out of the question (e.g. you said October, but might that include late Sept or early Nov if there were performance dates available? |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 10 Jun 12 - 10:45 PM The entire idea is now on the "Well, lets see if this is possible" phase... I will start on the passport this week and start thinking about calendars and the P-Vine and all the stuff that needs to be thinked of... B~ |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Crowhugger Date: 11 Jun 12 - 12:54 AM FWIW I think it's totally do-able as soon as you decide to reach out and take a bite of the apple! However there is no doubt that self-promotion and self-management are a lot of work, not to mention a pain in the ass when what you really want to do is make music. But you'll get to know some wonderful people along the way. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 11 Jun 12 - 09:29 AM The most difficult part is that I do not have the 'pudder skill to self-promote... I don't even know how to send a copy of my YouTube video to prospective clubs??? B;~( |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Bobert Date: 30 Jun 12 - 08:39 PM Well, reality has reared it's ugly head... Sniff... As much as I would love to pull this off this year ain't the year... Too much on the plate... Appreciate everyone's help... Maybe next year when things have settled out on the home front... Sniff... Lotta folks I want to meet and have a beer with... Ya'll know who ya'll are and it's lots... B:~( |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: GUEST,999 Date: 30 Jun 12 - 09:46 PM Well, gives us all more time to plan, Bobert. |
Subject: RE: Bobert House Concert Tour to Canada??? From: Beer Date: 30 Jun 12 - 09:48 PM You know Bobert life is just getting to damn busy. I have been retired since 2001 and the honest truth is that I just don't have the time spend on your project. I'm sorry, but just to many things happening for me as well. I'm involved in a very large project and family commitments. But as you say, maybe next year. adrien |
