Subject: Folk CD's on special - June 2012 -online From: Helen Date: 06 Jun 12 - 04:55 PM Hi all, I get emails from fishpond.com.au which is a book, music, music book, etc online store. It delivers around the world, not just in Oz. The email today had a link for a music clearance - fishpond.com.au and out of interest I then clicked their folk category: Folk CD's on special - fishpond.com.au As an aside, it's amusing to see which artists are classified as folk, but there are 1000 CD's for sale at reasonable discounts, and there are some classic folk artists listed. I started going through and I reached the 15th page, which is about 25% of the list and saw a lot that I would like to have. I wasn't saving them to the wishlist as I went, so I'll have to go back & start again. (You would need to register to save to a wishlist, or write them down as you go and search for them again later.) I saw Steeleye Span, Clannad, Mike Heron (from Incredible String Band), John Prine, Archie Roach, Gurrumul Yunupingu (both Australian Koori artists - beautiful voices), Leonard Cohen, Judy Collins, Joni Mitchell, and heaps more. Worth a look, especially if you want to upgrade vinyl to CD, like I do for some of those artists. I have bought some good items from fishpond, including music books when I was learning piano, so check those out too if you are interested. The items have been shipped very quickly, the service has always been excellent. They also buy back items for re-sale secondhand. (As always, usual disclaimer: I have no connection to the company, I am just a satisfied customer.) Helen P.S. try not to blame me if you spend more than you intended buying some of these classic folk CD's. :-) |

The same problem applies to amazon.com, etc. The home country gets the free shipping advantage. For me, if they have a CD I've been desperate to find, the shipping is less of a priority. Reminder: you can support Mudcat at Amazon.com by ordering through this link Helen |
