Subject: Sound therapy From: GUEST,josepp Date: 11 Jun 12 - 12:28 PM Bought this CD called "Thunderstorm" made by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. According to the notes it's a 3-D binaural recording of gently falling rain with rolling thunder off in the distance embedded with "alpha brainwave pulses" that apparently promotes relaxation. 3-D binaural recording is when sensitive mics that "hear" just as the human ear does are placed on a dummy head at the ear locations to pick up the sounds exactly as we perceive in our own heads. I remember Edgar Froese of Tangerine Dream experimenting with this in the 1970s. I had a solo album by him called "Upland" or there was a piece on it called "Upland" but, anyway, it was recorded that way. I ripped it onto my portable drive and took it to work and played it for my office mates. They love it. I was obliged to set it up for endless repeats while I came home to have lunch--where I am right now. Thompson has another CD featuring rolling, gently breaking waves. Maybe I'll pick that one up next. Anyone else hear these sound therapy CDs and what do you think? |

Subject: RE: Sound therapy From: GUEST,Josepp Date: 11 Jun 12 - 02:21 PM No but I just saw the "Goat Rodeo" dvd. I hear it's practically the same thing. |
