Does anyone know the words to the song that goes something like this? Thank you very much...thank you very much. That's the nicest thing that anyone has ever done for me.

I don't know the title of the song but I believe it's from the musical movie Oliver -- I think it's a song that Oliver sings to the other boys(?). Check the sound track.

There was a similar song from the musical Scrooge!, a Broadway adaptation of A Christmas Carol. When the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come takes him forward, Scrooge hears his former chamberservants singing:

"Thank you very much, Mr. Scrooge!
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me..."

Poor Scrooge then finds out they're singing about his death, and their ill-gotten gains from robbing his bed-chamber, etc.

'Fraid I don't have the lyrics to the song - maybe a search for the musical's cast album or something will help you find it.

I din't think it's from Oliver (wonderful musical.. pity Oliver had such a wimpy voice)... I'd go with the Scrooge option...

I didn't see the 'Lyr Req'.

What is the nicest thing anyone ever did for you? This could be an epic feel good thread. Let's hear it.

I have two entries. The first was my first lover, who said "Who taught you to make love like that?" Since I was a late starter and a slow learner, those eight words erased years of painful bewilderment. There was only one answer - "You".

The second was a job interviewer who pursued me to give me feedback. I had been out of work for some months, and was on my fiftieth job application, with only a few near misses to show for it. This one I really wanted, and put everything into it, but just missed again. He told me the same thing had been done for him, and he had never looked back. I won the next four I went for. Since then I have pursued anyone I have interviewed to pass on the favour.

There must be a lot of good stories out there.

Chris

The song lyric is from Scrooge, both as he is viewing his death with the spirit of Christmas to Come and reprised at the end when he has changed his ways. It is the most memorable song from the show.
