Subject: Obit: Matty Scott (South tyne Folk & Blues)
From: Dave Sutherland
Date: 29 Jun 12 - 03:19 PM

I received the sad news yesterday that Matty Scott died at home in Ellington, Northumberland aged 64 on Wednesday 27th June. Matty, a very special button accordion player, performed with Terry Kelly, Nobby Merrifield and I in The Colliers, the resident band at South Tyne Folk and Blues from 1968 to 1973 whereupon he joined The McNabola Brothers Band who provided the music every month for the Birtley Folk Club Ceilidhs as well as playing at Barn Dances and Ceilidhs throughout Nothumberland and Durham.
Although we have not been in touch since I moved away from South Shields thirty four years ago this news comes as quite a shock.
Terry Kelly and I send our condolences to his family at this sad time.
RIP Matty
