Surely 5,000 morris dancers with sticks would be more than capable of ensuring security at the Big Shen?!! Instead we have a bunch of yoofs recruited from local schools, many of whom can't speak English, and many of whom have (reportedly) got criminal convictions or are awaiting trial. And to these the nations of the world are entrusting the safety and security of their highy regarded athletes the latter of whom have worked hard for years to attain the perfection required to compete in the Big Shen. What a bl**dy fiasco.

I would strongly suspect that the problems with securing "security accreditation" are not unrelated to the recent whinge by one of the Daily Telegraph's alleged columnists, that it is difficult to recruit Urdu speakers for the Foreign Office because Pakistanis tend to fail the security vetting.... quelle surprise....
