I have a very last minute gig in Ft. Collins, Colorado on July 7th (this Saturday). Here is the FACEBOOK EVENT and if you are in the greater Ft. Collins area, you can BUY TICKETS IN ADVANCE.

This is my very first time performing in Colorado and I hope that there will be many more!

Debra

Thanks Bruce and Adrien. Seamus I hope you are okay and "weathered" the storms that blew through your area.

Leaving tomorrow. Cheap flights on July 4th.

Deb, please tell us about it when you get back home, ok? Stay safe and keep well. I won't say perform well because it's a given.

Welcome to Colorado, Deb! We're on the Western Slope, a few hours away or we'd try to make it. I am sure they will love you and your music.

My goodness, kat! I had no idea! Understandable as I understand there are these things called mountains in Colorado. :-) :-)

Maybe on the next trip I can get to the Western slope and finally meet you.

Deb

I am still in Fort Collins and heading back to Denver this afternoon. Here is a review of the show in Fort Collins:

"The hardy souls who braved the monsoon rains in Fort Collins, Colorado Saturday night received a rare treat. Folk singer Debra Cowan's strong, clear voice transported listeners to ships crashing on Englands shores, Appalachian coal mine disasters and maidens scorned and forsaken. Her chameleon voice changes colors to match the story--low and earthy, then light and ethereal, unaccompanied or with guitar, and always with impeccable pitch. Debra is obviously a trained and experienced singer with vocal stamina to carry solo shows and a mind that holds hundreds of songs and thousands of lyrics. She certainly knows how to sing, but Debra's singing goes far beyond vocal production. "How do I remember the words [to long ballads]--they are a part of me. They are always with me. I just tell the story." And tell the story she does-- with sorrow, humor, horror, longing, vengeance, and regret. Cowan claims to sing "great songs written by other people" and she gives credit where its due, citing famous British and American song collectors and even debunking a few myths about the source of some so-called "traditional" songs. Don't expect to politely listen to Debra's songs. She insists that folk music is not a spectator sport. You will sing along as she teaches refrains, then drops out, "now your turn." She invited musician friend Steve Eulberg, on the spot, to share a couple of tunes. To refuse would have been futile, so Steve became part of the story. This is not delicate artsy music for a concert hall, but living breathing music for a pub or wake or celebration of life. Let's hope that Debra Cowan's first visit to Colorado won't be her last."--Cynthia Vaughn, Magnolia Music Studio, Fort Collins CO, USA

That's excellent!

There are some good venues scattered about. It would be wonderful if come out this way. We're not that far from Moab, utah which has a huge fest every year. Telluride, Aspen and a few others are just an hour or two away.

Hope you got to see some of our famous, Colorado mile-high sunshine.

atb,

kat

I'll certainly let you know when I come back to Colorado, Kat and I'll try to make it to your part of the State.

In the meantime, I'll be releasing my live CD "Among Friends" on August 15th. Click on the link to listen to some songs!

Best,
Debra
