Unidentified Accordion

I'm trying to find out some info about this 48 bass accordion which has no makers name on it - can anyone cast any light - not one of the more common manufacturers I think as trawling dealers pages has thrown no light on it.

I'll have to fin a way to get the photo up which doesn't involve login to facebook/myspace - I've put the picture up on the Mudcat Facebook page but will try to find a way to post it here - don't like being defeated by these things.

Looks like a Hohner Student model with a home-made replacement grille.

Nope - it's a Galotta in original condition... made in East Germany, probably around the 1960s.

A serviceable workhorse, though nothing special.

Here's a similar one, though a later model with more rounded corners...

I've worked on a few of them, and their perennial problem is sticking piano keys... the wood wasn't properly seasoned. I think.

The one on YouTube doesn't suffer in the same way because the keys are all plastic rather than wood with a plastic cover.

Thanks for the help on that one, Bernard. I've just located one at Hobgoblin. A friend of ours lost his partner recently and wanted to sell it as he doesn't play and we had no idea as to make/value.

He also had a Castagnari Lilly melodeon, which was worth considerably more that the accordion so it would seem which we helped him get a fair price for.
