Subject: Sid's last gig From: GUEST,JeffB Date: 03 Jul 12 - 07:18 AM I have been copied into an e-mail from Carol Wood, editor of Tyke's News, which says, "Sid has been and still is ill. Hence no Trunch Trumpet. He intends to retire and will be giving a farewell performance at Whitby Festival this year." This will be sad news for his many fans. |
Subject: RE: Sid's last gig From: Dave Hanson Date: 03 Jul 12 - 07:24 AM Sad ? it's tragic, a huge talent, but whatever happened to Henry ? Dave H |
Subject: RE: Sid's last gig From: Herga Kitty Date: 03 Jul 12 - 07:57 AM Sad news indeed, though a long and happy retirement is well deserved! To avoid confusion with the other, Lancashire, Sid (Calderbank), could the thread title please be amended to clarify that this is the Norfolk Kipper, Sid.... Kitty |

Subject: RE: Sid's last gig From: Surreysinger Date: 03 Jul 12 - 01:50 PM Must admit that I opened up this thread with that thought too! |
Subject: RE: Sid's last gig From: GUEST,vectis Date: 03 Jul 12 - 02:44 PM For a moment I was worried for Sompting Morris's Sid Wakenham. Thankfully it wasn't him. Poor old Sid K though. |
Subject: RE: Sid's last gig From: Richard Bridge Date: 03 Jul 12 - 02:47 PM Am I right to infer that Chris Sugden will live on? |
Subject: RE: Sid's last gig From: Dave Hanson Date: 03 Jul 12 - 03:06 PM One would hope so, though it's not clear weather only Sid is ill or if Chris is ill too. Dave H |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: Leadfingers Date: 03 Jul 12 - 07:34 PM BOTH of them have ALL my best wishes for a full recovery . |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 04 Jul 12 - 01:58 AM Amen to that. They are both brilliant and irreplaceable. Valmai (Lewes) |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: GUEST,hatty Date: 02 Oct 12 - 07:51 PM According to Sid's website he had a booking for the 13th September, so if Sid retired after Whitby it rather looks as though Chris is ill. Dave Hanson - Henry died some years ago after retiring to an old folkies' home. |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: Dave Hanson Date: 03 Oct 12 - 04:21 AM Hmmm, but did Dick Nudds pass away too. Dave H |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: Little Robyn Date: 03 Oct 12 - 06:45 AM I heard that Henry stopped singing because he couldn't handle the booze - when he would walk on stage and the audience would go BOO! So when did he go into a rest home? And when did he die? Such a sad loss. Robyn |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: Girl Friday Date: 03 Oct 12 - 02:20 PM Those who have not yet experienced a Sid Kipper gig will sadly, now not do - ever. Hope both Sid and Chris get better soon, and enjoy their retirement. |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: Anne Lister Date: 03 Oct 12 - 04:41 PM Dick Nudds was an agent for a while - not sure what he's up to now. And I, too, send my warmest wishes for Sid and Chris and their respective and mutual recovery. |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: GUEST,John Foxen Date: 30 Jan 13 - 11:39 AM Has anyone got recent news on how Sid/Chris is faring? |
Subject: RE: Norfolk Kipper Sid's last gig From: GloriaJ Date: 30 Jan 13 - 05:45 PM I had a chat with him a few weeks ago, around Christmas time.He was quite cheerful, and looked fine.I didnt want to pry,and I trust this is not undermining his privacy, but he did tell me that he has had numerous medical tests to try and ascertain what's been wrong - but none came up with anything definite. I dont think he's going back on his decision to retire from performing though. |
