Subject: ADD: The Sweetest Sounds (Richard Rodgers) From: Joe Offer Date: 27 May 97 - 03:25 AM It's one of the few songs I know of that credit Richard Rodgers wrote for both words and music. It's called "The Sweetest Sounds," and it's from the 1962 show, "No Strings." Here are the complete lyrics, all one verse of 'em: THE SWEETEST SOUNDS (Richard Rodgers, 1962) The sweetest sounds I'll ever hear Are still inside my head. The kindest words I'll ever know Are waiting to be said. The most entrancing sight of all Is yet for me to see. And the dearest love in all the world Is waiting somewhere for me Waiting somewhere, Somewhere for me Pretty song, isn't it? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: ...the sweetest sounds I'll ever he hear are From: George Burt Date: 27 May 97 - 02:29 PM On the off chance that the earlier entries were not what you were looking for, my father (b. 1891) used to sing a one-liner as follows: "The sweetest music to my ears is 'Was willst du haben'" --Freely xlated, 'What will you have?' If you want the tune to this utterly forgettable number, you'll have to wait or call me (541-424-3021) because I'm not set up yet to send music. |

The Sweetest Sounds - Words and Music by Richard Rodgers from the 1962 Broadway musical "No Strings" starring Diahann Carroll and Richard Kiley
INTRO: What do I really hear and what is in the ear of my mind ? Which sounds are true and clear and which will never be defined ? The sweetest sounds I'll ever hear are still inside my head The kindest words I'll ever know are waiting to be said The most entrancing sight of all is yet for me to see And the dearest love in all the world is waiting somewhere for me Is waiting somewhere, somewhere for me
The most entrancing sight of all is yet for me to see
And the dearest love in all the world is waiting somewhere for me
Is waiting somewhere, somewhere for me
Somewhere for me; Somewhere for me
