the only whistle type things on his list are out of my price league at the moment :- (

I suppose I could email him and ask if he knows of anything.

I've been learning to play a set of Jon Swayne's border pipes with the half=closed fingering. I love it but they are loud and would like a chance to practice in situations where volume and/or size of the pipes make them awkward.

I've tried a tin whistle, which wasn't too bad for the home key but has anyone got any suggestions on an instrument that I can practice the half closed fingering on (preferably not expensive)?
