Sorry to have to give the news that Frank Williamson of Durham City Folk Club died yesterday after cancer had spread to his bones and the onset of a severe chest infection. The funeral is expected to be at Durham Crematorium next Thursday at 1pm. Frank was a stalwart of the folk club for many years and was well-known for his singing of North Eastern songs and we of the folk club will miss him.

I am stunned, Ian. No other word for it. Frank was one of the greatest singers & one of nicest blokes ever. Both Rachel & I value his friendship and encouragement & his singing of the Northumbrian canon was without equal - particularly his Tommy Armstrong songs (such as Stanley Market).

RIP, Frank, marra. You will be as sorely missed as you'll be fondly remembered.
