I absolutely love hockey. Been following the exchanges, draft picks and so on since the end of the season. But I wouldn't even watch this movie if it became available on Netflix let alone go to a theater to see it.

It is on Netflix. That is where I saw it. Carol and I thought we wouldn't like it but apart from some unnecessary but probably realistic bad language, it is a charming and fun movie with an off beat love story.

I just checked on Netflix and it isn't available here in Quebec. Maybe the rest of Canada as well. I have in the past recommended movies to katlaughing and many times she can't get them. Very strange how Netflix works. Having said this, I should say that I just don't like goons in hockey and I guess this is why I wouldn't bother watching it. I'm glad that it is a fun movie with a love story attached.

Hmm. Well, movie trailers can sometimes be misleading. I assumed from the trailer that I wouldn't like that movie at all, not in any way. A trailer is usually a barrage of the most violent or quirky, attention-grabbing scenes in a movie...or things blowing up...or people screaming at each other...WHAP! BANG! SMACK! WHOOP!...60 insane seconds of sensual overkill...which often has the effect on me of saying, "Well, there's another stupid, obnoxious Hollywood movie I'm not gonna go and see..."

But like I said, that can be misleading. As you describe it, it sounds like a good movie.

But here's a question...why don't they make more movies like this about curling?

There was a great documentary about Ted Lindsay (Terrible Ted of Detroit Red wings.). Not so much about his fighting but about when he stood up against the owners and how the owners dealt with him. Must try and find it.
