Subject: Woody at 100. BBC tv Documentary From: Owen Woodson Date: 13 Jul 12 - 06:11 AM BBC 4 tv are showing an old Arena documentary about Woody tonight. Starting time, I think is 23-30. For anyone who hasn't seen it, this is a very good programme and well worth watching. However, I'd have thought that British tv could have pushed the boat out a little further than that. |

Subject: RE: Woody at 100. BBC tv Documentary From: Owen Woodson Date: 13 Jul 12 - 03:15 PM Sez oo? There has been a lot of work done on Woody over the past thirty years or so, and a lot of demythologising. For examples of demythologising try reading the following:- Ed Cray. Rambling Man. Joe Klein. Woody Guthrie; a life. Will Kaufmann. American Radical. Robert Santelli/Emily Davidson. Hard Travelin'. You'll find precious little mythologising in any of that lot. |
