Hiya,

This was a present. Reminded me of my Gryphon cd (got that by accident thinking it was a heavy rock album, wanted to get rid of it, so glad I didn't)

I am not in the slightest bit religious but seeing the name on the front made me give it a go (mum was eyeing it up in case I didn't want it)

I recognised some of the tracks/hymns as ones we were forced to sing at school – very different versions of course! but then this amazing gospel/Amish-sounding song came on. Later found out it was called 'How Firm A Foundation'.

Even if the rest of the cd was rubbish – which it's not – and not fit to be used as a coaster, I'd keep it just to play that. I can't get over how good this song is – I wish Maddy Prior would do some more like that.

It sounds amazing on the Bose, and keeps getting "borrowed".

I've got a necklace that has a record on with the word PILGRIM etched into the grooves; I think that's a sign I should keep it, don't you ??!!

I've had this album for years. It's great.

An excellent album. I have also had it for some years now. They did a tour a few years ago in connection with the 200th Anniversary of John Wesley's birth and my wife bought another copy, forgetting we had it already.

If you want a more secular album by them look out for "Hang Up Sorrow and Care". It's a collection of popular songs and tunes from the same era and is just as good.

Or even better. And don't overlook "Old Simon the King" or their albums of carols.

Hiya,

Thanks for the recommendations. Not much point having albums of carols though, they'd only get played once a year.
