the "Take It Away" scheme, I was very sorry to discover yesterday, is also now only open to musicians 25 and under...

(Take It Away is an arts-council-funded interest free loan scheme for buying musical instruments at participating shops)

Probably a better idea than funding the buying of new cheap instruments would have been a scheme to assist the buying of good second-hand instruments - often the same price as new dross but much better.
