Subject: 'Entreaty' (Wilson G. Smith) From: GUEST,Researcher Date: 22 Jul 12 - 06:00 PM Can anyone share information about a song called "Entreaty (A Love-Song)" by composer Wilson G. Smith? I believe it was copyrighted in 1888. I'm looking for the full lyrics and/or sheet music. I have seen a couple places where you can buy a sheet music download, but I was kind of hoping to find it in the public domain somewhere. |

Subject: Lyr Add: ENTREATY (Ira Allen Jr / Wilson G. Smith) From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Jan 13 - 01:18 AM The sheet music can be seen in a book called Anthology of American Song (New York: G. Schirmer, ©1906), page 6—which is viewable online (click the link). ENTREATY (A Love-Song) Words by Ira Allen, Jr.; music by Wilson G. Smith, ©1888. Last night I dreamed your golden hair Lay soft against my face, And that your fingers in my hands Had found a resting place. I dreamed your girlish lips met mine And that your dewy breath Did whisper thoughts against my cheek As would give life to death Did whisper thoughts against my cheek As would give life to death. O little maiden, whose soft lips Are sweeter than May dew, Just lean a moment on my breast And make my dream come true! In dreams last night your golden hair Lay soft against my face, And clasped in mine your dainty hands Had found a resting place. Oh, lean one moment on my breast And make my dreams come true. |
