Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: GRex Date: 25 Jul 12 - 05:21 AM Tug I'm interested, but not if there are too many volunteers. GRex |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: Tug the Cox Date: 25 Jul 12 - 07:35 AM GRex need all hands, several regulars have informed me that they won't be there this year, including the Shantyannas and Noreen.....so get recruiting. Normal retinue, meet in Middle bar at 7.30 thence around the venues colecting for lifeboat while causing mayhem with shanties. |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: Tattie Bogle Date: 25 Jul 12 - 09:50 AM Might have to do some press-ganging in the Middle Bar then Tug! I'm probably up for it but I don't have the vocal strength of those Shanty Annas! More at home with other sea songs. |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: Tug the Cox Date: 25 Jul 12 - 11:29 AM All sea songs are OK. The lifeboatmen save all sorts of sailors!. |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: Tug the Cox Date: 26 Jul 12 - 05:15 AM Anyone know what's happening in the sailing club now that the musicians have decamped? |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: Noreen Date: 26 Jul 12 - 05:26 PM There's more than one set of musicians go to Sidmouth Jeff- as soon as that lot decamped, others arrived and we had a nice few tunes. I would imagine (hope) the licensee would be pleased to encourage all musicianers- including singers- to keep the crowds coming in and buying his beer. But- who knows? Go and have a sing Tattie Bogle. Some venues are quieter and more suited to us of less ferocious voices, eg Rosie's lot in the Royal York and Faulkner quieten down nicely :) (oh and we have been known to do a bit of press-ganging on our travels too!) |
Subject: RE: Sidmouth shanty run ashore From: Tattie Bogle Date: 27 Jul 12 - 08:03 PM Thanks Noreen, I was thinking along he same lines re Sailing Club, that so long as they are open for sessions, someone will take up residence there! And I've been to Rosie's session quite a few times, and enjoy the atmosphere there, even down to the creaky floorboards under the deep pile carpet! |
