Hey, have any of you folks ever heard of a really old song that I believe is entitled "Big John". It's apparently about a miner. A co-worker of mine really wants the words to it and I want to get them as he's driving me batty singing the three or so words that he knows. Please help!

Thanks. I didn't realize it was called Big BAD John. But yeah, that was the song I was looking for. So thanks again, Gene.

Taking "Big John", and a parody on some long forgotten comedy album, and then taking it a step further with my own demented mind - I wish to present a new musical genre - "hillbilly rap":

(cue the rhythm)
Every mornin' at the mine you could see him arrive
He stood five foot six and weighed three forty-five
Kinda narrow at the shoulder and broad at the hip
And everybody knew you didn't give no lip
To Big J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-J-Jim Bob!

And then there is the parody by ?
"Big Bad Bruce"

A propos of nothing at all: Seems there was another recent thread about the song "I Won't Go Huntin' With You, Jake (But I'll Go Chasin' Women)". I recall that it was the 'B' side to Jimmy Dean's release of "Big John".

Does anybody remember Big Irving, the 142nd fastest gun in the West? "A hundred and forty-one were faster than he, but Irving was looking for number 143." Fortunately, that's all I remember.
