Hunt and I will be giving a 1-hour program as part of a month-long exhibit at a local museum. The audience is ages 6-12, the venue is a world cultures museum.

I've started pulling together the essentials:

Bling Blang
Mail Myself to You
Dry Bed
Why Oh Why

and of course, This Land

We will not limit ourselves to Woody but he needs to dominate the program.
We will also probably do a bunch of our silly standards:
Maple Sweet
Eddystone Light
Washington @ Valley Forge

What else would be essential for that age group, given the time limitation?

Is 'Put your finger on your nose' one of his. (Same tune as If you're happy and you know it). And if it is, is it too young - maybe a preschool song.

I used to love singing "Ship in the Sky" and "Little Sack of Sugar" to my daughter years ago.

For the younger kids, try Riding In My Car.

Before I do the song for children, I get them to practice making the engine noises (for the chorus) and the honking horn sounds. Then they'll be ready to join in at the appropriate parts in the song.

Also, for young'uns, Pick It Up is nice.

Jay

You might consider Arlo's "Just Wanna Ride my Motorcycle"; I think kids would enjoy the fun rhymes.

In 1994, Woody was the guest on the BBC Children's Hour and did "Wabash Cannonball," "900 Miles," "Stagger Lee" and "Pretty Boy Floyd." Listening to the BBC host with him is hilarious. It's on the Woody At 100 box set.
