When I was playing with Margaret and Kate, we were up doing some shows in Canada. Our friends dragged us out to see David Francey. We talked some with him after his show. When David came down to do a house concert in our area a few months later with guitarist Dave Clarke, we all were there to see him again. We had also told a lot of people they needed to make the effort to come out to see the two Daves. Mr. Francey was very pleased to have a front row that came in on his choruses and the whole show was a pleasure to hear.

Last night I took my wife to a house concert in Davis, California - a CD release concert for my friends Dick Holdstock and Allan MacLeod. Dick and Allan knew most of the audience, and the members of the audience were mostly singers who knew the songs of Holdstock and MacLeod quite well.

There was a special magic in a concert like this, like a baseball team playing a home game, but even better. The banter between audience and performers was wonderful, and the singing was terrific.

Dick and Allan seemed so pleased that we drove an hour to attend their concert. Gee, I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

I'm sure we've all had wonderful concert experiences like this, where the performer and audience are friends and on their home turf. Would you like to share stories of concerts like this?
