Subject: Craig Morgan Robson ballad forum From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 06 Aug 12 - 03:36 AM Lewes Saturday Folk Club workshop 163 Craig Morgan Robson BALLAD FORUM http://www.cmr-harmony.org.uk/ SUNDAY 16th. September 2012 10.45 a.m.- 4.45 p.m. Places £25 Elephant & Castle, White Hill, Lewes BN7 2DJ Craig;Morgan;Robson aim to explore the world of the ballad, from the magical to the murderous, in a special forum on Sunday 16th. September. Craig;Morgan;Robson are not only wonderful singers but have been described as "adepts at making musical tradition accessible" (Paul Davenport, English Dance and Song Magazine). Moira (Craig), Sarah (Morgan) and Carolyn (Robson) will start the ball rolling by taking one or two examples of traditional ballads and putting them under the microscope. You'll have a chance to hear how different versions of the ballad have evolved and to discover some of the history, folklore and symbolism that lies behind these fascinating and gripping songs. If you've ever thought that ballads are just long, boring songs, now is the time to come along and find out how exciting they can be! There will be plenty of opportunity to participate. As well as joining in the discussion and debate, not to mention the occasional refrain, you are invited to contribute your favourite ballad to the forum (see booking form). Non-singers are also welcome. If you want to contribute a ballad: Sorry to be prescriptive, but because of time limits we are asking people to keep their contributions to traditional ballads only. Also, to make sure that we don't get an overlap of material, please state on your form the ballad you would like to contribute. If it has already been 'bagged', we will let you know, so that you can choose another. Craig Morgan Robson perform at the Lewes Saturday Folk Club on Saturday 15th.
