I've got a Moridaira model 9545 dreadnought that I purchased new in the late 60's/early 70's (for the princely sum of £40!). I got it for no better reason than the Yamaha FG180's were sold out, and this one sounded nice.
I now realise that it's something of a novelty, as Mr Moridaira's instruments were marketed under the name "Morris". I know of no-one with one of these instruments, and I'm in the trade.

Has any one else got one, or can anyone shed any light on these instruments? Have I got the only one surviving? If I have, maybe I should have thought twice before letting my son use it as a thrashing box in his rock band!

I have a Moridaira acoustic model 9545 that I was given minus the saddle and nut. I have been trying to locate the items but because the thickness of the slot in the bridge is 6mm thick I am having trouble in finding one to fit it. Does anyone know who might stock the original parts for Moridaira guitars? Or where I can get one to fit?

Would you believe it - never thought I'd see this name. I had one for years - no idea what model. Needed micro retuning almost for every song. Ritchie Doran kicked it over one night at the Britannia and it snapped just above the nut. I repaired it time and again but had to give up.
I still have the Gurian I bought to replace it. The Gurian always goes back in it's case.

For what it's worth, I still have a Moridaira in the attic, dating from 1975 and costing about £72 at the time, which was a fair amount at that time. It's a fairly faithful copy of a J200 with solid maple back and sides and moustache bridge, and so I agree that fitting new parts to these Gibson copies should present no great problem. It still plays well, but the neck is a just little too narrow now for me since I ended up with a stumpy index finger, following altercation with a drain cover a few years back.

Have Moridaira J200 I bought in 1974 from bells music.Sitka spruce top and flame maple back and sides. It has been a pleasure to play a top-quality made guitar all these years, and I have made some changes like Gotoh machine heads for stock and bone nuts, etc and have just had it re-fretted by Jimmy Egypt Glasgow who does good stuff in his shop.PS.Played with Neil young in the nineties and he liked playing this guitar.
