Subject: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 14 Aug 12 - 12:57 PM Our monthly sea shanty, forebitter, and ballad session will take place this Saturday, August 18th, at The Press Room on Daniel Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, from 3:30 to 7:30 PM. Tom has been graduated to using just a cane to navigate -- both walker and wheelchair are more or less relegated to home use (but not entirely out of our lives yet). Have it on reliable sources that the peripatetic gnome (Micca) will be at the session and it will be truly wonderful to have him at The Press Room again. Hope we see the regulars AND the irregulars there! Total strangers welcome as well. Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Charley Noble Date: 14 Aug 12 - 05:31 PM I'll be there for sure. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 15 Aug 12 - 07:32 PM We've got confirmation that Micca will definitely be at the session. Looking forward to it! Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Jeri Date: 15 Aug 12 - 08:02 PM I am re-pastryated (from Canada--big hugs to Canada!), so I will probably make it. |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Charley Noble Date: 15 Aug 12 - 11:07 PM I may have some company with me. Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 16 Aug 12 - 08:36 AM The more the merrier! Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 17 Aug 12 - 07:37 AM Mudcat, at least for those of us above the Equator, seems to be in the midst of the August/Summer Doldrums (note nautical reference...). I think people are out and about and enjoying the weather rather than typing frantically in front of the computer. Not sure what Saturday's weather will be here -- just checked, 77F (29C) and partly sunny. Sounds like excellent weather to sip some Guinness and raise some rafters. Hope too many gigs don't interfere... Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bupkes Date: 17 Aug 12 - 04:00 PM I look forward to coming tomorrow. It's my favorite session of the month. Hoping to lure some of the Gloucester crowd up too. The weather looks to be cloudy, 40% chance of showers, mid 70s. Nice rainy afternoon to sing at the pub. Marty |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Charley Noble Date: 17 Aug 12 - 10:33 PM No, this Saturday is not going to work for me with regard to the Press Room. Two more old friends just dropped in from California and we'll be spending more quality time with them. Enjoy! Sorry to miss Micca. Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 18 Aug 12 - 07:01 AM Rainy now, but if the past week is any indication, the sun will be out by this afternoon. I head out in a couple hours to pick Micca up in Concord so he and Tom and I can visit for awhile before the session this afternoon. Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 18 Aug 12 - 12:58 PM He's here...and in a couple hours we'll be there. There's some car cleaning (backseat) to be done first, but right now lots of conversational catching up. Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Charley Noble Date: 18 Aug 12 - 06:47 PM I can hear the uproar at the Press Room all the way up to this house in Richmond, Maine, 90 miles as the van flies. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 18 Aug 12 - 08:51 PM Oops, sorry. I missed your next to last post, Charley. I was a bit concerned when you didn't arrive and I hoped nothing untoward had happened. Glad to hear you're okay and enjoying the visit of old friends. Too tired out right now to post about the session, but it was a really nice session. Micca was a hit and expanded his fan club. London Julie was out in force and sounded incredible. Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 19 Aug 12 - 11:48 AM Will post photos later, too, at Facebook -- including me being attacked by a squid tentacle rising out of my Guinness and Micca being cherished by his admirers. Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Micca Date: 19 Aug 12 - 03:32 PM Jacqui's back kept us at the corner table. Good to see old friends. Wonderful to see Tom walking. Lots of good music, good food (though the prices have gone up) and catching up. Justine looks very happy. The ladies made a proper fuss over Micca. LOL I want some of those pictures of my friend with his harem. |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Micca Date: 19 Aug 12 - 03:33 PM That was SINS above. SOmebody keeps logging into her computer sites and making a muddle of things. SINS |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Jeri Date: 19 Aug 12 - 05:00 PM Oh. I was hoping he wasn't going all "third person" on us. Might've started talking about "Micca likes hobbitses!" (There was a Newfie dog outside [with his human] whose [the dog's] name was "Hobbit". I hope Jacqui's back feels better soon. |

Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Bat Goddess Date: 19 Aug 12 - 06:01 PM By the way, the squid tentacle is the most bitter, disgusting thing I have ever tasted! Glad it didn't pollute the Guinness. (But I needed some of Jeri's nachos to get rid of the taste in my mouth.) Linn |
Subject: RE: Aug Press Room (NH) Shanty Sing From: Charley Noble Date: 19 Aug 12 - 08:43 PM Looks like a great group of folks attending and a wonderful set of songs. Sorry we had to miss it. The Facebook photos really look great! Cheerily, Charley Noble |
